Is PropTech a Waste of Money? – Probably!

Proptech.

If you haven’t guessed, that’s property technology.

The UK property market has been evolving for years. Who can remember the good old days of people ringing you on newspaper day, ringing you for viewings after seeing the property section of the local rag to choose their next move.

Today, its Rightmove and Zoops

Whilst estate agents, with their windows lined with images of homes, still exist, the technology behind selling a house is changing.

This largely stems from the fact that business models are changing. Just think about how you travel (Tripadvisor), date ( Tinder), taxi (Uber), order a takeaway (Just Eat), read a book (Kindle). No industry can afford to stay stagnant.

So what is proptech, exactly?

Its all about using technology to adopt, adapt and improve the services we rely on in the property industry to sell, let, and manage the property transaction.

..but is it any good?

Some of  it total b****ks and a waste of money – whilst other bits are sublime and might just save your agency.

I chatted to Simon Whale from Reapit about PropTech … you might find our findings quite eyebrow raising?

Only one thing but they were doing it so well .. and reaping the reward in terms of decent listings and decent fees, happy staff, decent sales pipeline and exchange income, managed lettings portfolios in the many hundreds .. but more importantly, they really enjoyed the job… they enjoyed getting up in the morning and people looked up to them Over 400 agents around the UK are on a mission to change the way our Estate and Lettings agency profession is perceived and looked upon, doing it town by town, city by city. I guide these 400 agents, teach them, mentor them and support them to be seen in a different light, to be seen as the ‘go to person for property’, actually be the ‘local property expert’ and prove it.
