Today, I want to talk about the balance of power between Estate Agents and the Portals (in particular Rightmove)
On what side does the balance of power lay in that relationship?
Who is the Monkey?
Who is the Organ Grinder?
Is it equitable?
Does one side have too much power and the other not enough?
Rightmove (and in parts Zoopla) have over the years made a lot of enemies and adversaries in UK estate agency as they are perceived to have monopoly power.
Some agents deride Rightmove for their constant uplift in charges. Their charging model makes some agents blood boil
Looking at what the portals have charged over the years .. they might have a valid point
2006 – Rightmove charged on average, £183 per office per month … and today its £913 per office per month
