£6.2 million project for 35 new affordable homes put on hold

A multi-million pound project that will see the town of Peterborough having an additional 35 affordable homes has been put on hold following a challenge – Peterborough City Council said the project was to help to get people off their housing list. The planning was for the homes to be built on Crowland Road in Eye Green and subject to planning approval would be ready in October 2019 to July 2020.
The current issue is that the county’s mayoral body has said their spending budget had been ‘inadvertently overlooked’ re affordable housing for rents. The decision to build remains in the balance and will be debated by a council scrutiny committee.
