Bedroom Refresh – Pared-Down Skandi Styling.
The trend for the perfect ‘unmade’ bed continues to be strong in 2016. This pared down style is born out of the fashion for Scandinavian and industrial style interiors, where a more manicured bed would seem out of place. Achieving the look involves swapping your crisp cotton sheets for relaxed washed linens which will crumple and layer beautifully. But the real boon with changing over to linen is that it requires no ironing, just hang dry flat and you are ready to go. The only slight downside is that good quality linen can be a little more expensive to initially purchase, as flax is a more temperamental crop to produce than cotton, but think of all time and money you can save not ironing! Also the greater the degree of fade and age the better your sheets will look, so you can keep your coloured sheets longer.
To get the look layer a palette of tonal shades, I’ve used shades of grey and denim, but this works equally well with creamy whites and this summers hot colour which is blush pink. H&M Home have brilliant duvet sets for under £100.00, they also have a mix of slip sizes so you can arrange your pillows creatively. Next add a couple of throws to fashion your elegant rumple. I found this gorgeous crimpled throw at Ikea, but French Connection Home and Zara Home also have some fabulous natural fibre throws ranging from £60-100.00.
