Owner occupation rates remain unchanged for the third year in a row.

The latest English Housing Survey (EHS) a national survey of people’s housing circumstances and the condition and energy efficiency of housing in England recently published from the Department for Communities and Local Government has found that the number of households living in their own home is broadly unchanged on the year before, however this is still at a 30-year low.

In the report it finds that the private rented sector remains larger than the social rented sector, over the last ten years the number of households living in the private rented sector has increased and the number living in the social rented sector has dropped.

It also finds that owner occupation rates remain unchanged for the third year in a row. There are now more outright owners while the proportion of those buying with a mortgage are down.
