Meet the company accommodating the growing trend of the family business trip

London serviced apartment provider, Cuckooz, has launched its first serviced apartments designed solely for family travel in partnership with the Modern Nursery, the award-winning contemporary nursery décor specialists, to accommodate the growing trend of business travellers opting to take their family with them when visiting the UK for more prolonged periods of time.

A total of 37.9 million visits were made by overseas residents in 2018, largely driven by visitors from the USA with 8.8 million of those travelling doing so for business requirements.

It is estimated that by 2020, roughly half of the UK and American workforce will be freelance and that there has also been a 40 per cent increase in the number of children being homeschooled.

This freedom has led to an increase in the number of parents opting to take their children with them on business trips, a travel trend predicted for this year and one that Cuckooz co-founder, Charlie Rosier, has already seen coming to the forefront.

Rosier commented, “Family travel is no new trend, but the propensity for the new age business traveller to take their family along for the ride is something we’ve seen a growing demand for. Changes in the way we work and the way we raise our children has extended the boundaries of what is normal, and this greater level of flexibility is resulting in more and more people choosing to bring their family with them when visiting the UK for an extended period of time for business.”

But while this growing preference is shaping the way we do business, there remains a distinct lack of suitable accommodation for those looking to relocate for months at a time with their family in tow.

“The traditional hotel may fit the needs of a modern family for a few days at a time, but they aren’t providing the requirements for a family to settle in a given city on a more long-term basis. Serviced apartments are a far more suitable option when looking for a home away from home with the space and amenities to accommodate a family, but we wanted to take this a step further and shoulder some of the weight that comes with travelling with young ones in particular.” Rosier continued.

This led Cuckooz to create their first family-friendly apartment in partnership with the Modern Nursey.

Located in vibrant Old Street, this two-bed deluxe apartment has been carefully curated with a family of four in mind, complete with cot, toddler bed, high-chair, wigwam, ball-pit, baby kitchen set, baby bath, potty, a nappy changing station, playmat, all-natural bathroom toiletries by Jackson & Willow, a stroller and assorted toys and books recommended by Cuckooz childcare professionals.

Not only is the accommodation designed with a family in mind but Cuckooz, who have serviced apartments across the capital, also chose Old Street due to the area’s vibrant neighbourhood.

Charlie Rosier commented: “Old Street is a place where every member of the family, from the tallest to the smallest, can feel at home. Brimming with young families, the leafy area boasts parks, museums and city farms and offers a variety of kid-friendly visits, for all ages.”

Local attractions include Hackney City Farm, The Barbican, National Centre for Circus Arts and the V&A Museum of Childhood to name a few.

What’s more, residents are also entitled to a discounted membership to Cuckooz Nest during their stay. Cuckooz Nest is the sister company of Cuckooz, a co-working space with an integrated nursery for children under two providing a flexible childcare option for those conducting business during their stay.

Cuckooz’s family-friendly apartment is available on a three-night stay basis at a cost of £250 a night plus VAT.
