England left wanting at the Property Rugby World Cup as Japan tops the table

Kerb appeal

Ahead of the start of the Rugby World Cup 2019, leading national fast sale estate agent, Springbok Properties, has looked at the difference in pedigree between each team when it comes to the price of property.

Using the cost per square metre of property in cities across each nation, Springbok has compiled its own starting 15 for the tournament.

Forwards

While London is home to some of the most expensive property in the world, it isn’t England that tops the table, but rather fittingly, the hosts Japan, with an average cost per square metre currently a whopping £7,652.

France ranks second at £4,092, with Australia completing the front row at £3,827 as the heaviest hitters for property price.

Ireland (£3,654) and New Zeland (£3,096) form a firm second row, with Italy (£3,064) at Number Eight and England finally ranking just inside the pack at flanker with a property cost of £3,759, along with Canada (£2,714).

Backs

Property price per square foot falls below the £2,000 mark for the backs, with the United States at Scrum Half (£1,822), Wales (£1,782) at Fly Half and a beefy center partnership of Samoa (£1,684) and Scotland (£1,682).

The more nimble price points of Uruguay (£1,529) and Russia (£1,271) for the wings while Fiji takes the final starting spot at Fullback with an average property price per square metre costing £1,152.

The Bench

Tonga, Namibia, South Africa, Georgia, and Argentina sit on the bench with property prices currently below £1,000 per square metre.

Founder and CEO of Springbok Properties, Shepherd Ncube, commented:

“This year’s tournament has attracted some pretty heavy hitters when it comes to the cost of property across the nation’s taking part and who would have thought that the hosts would top the table.

While we’ve put this team together as a bit of fun, it does demonstrate the tough market conditions we’re seeing here in England at the moment.

It’s become almost expected, that like the England rugby team, the England property market is up there with the best in the world and this also means the most expensive.

This high price tag has traditionally been driven by London, however, month after month of Brexit uncertainty has seen property values in the capital come tumbling down and this impact is clear when you consider how low England now ranks in a national table like this one.”
