Where to order Ceiling Roses online

Polystyrene Ceiling Roses

Having just moved in to a new property I have been very busy with some updating works. Well, when I say new property it is in fact an old property, was in recent years used as a care home so I now have the huge task of re-converting it back to residential from commercial. These type of projects on many occasions will usually see much of the original character of the property lost due to updates required in order to trade as a care home legally. For this property I have purchased the likes of original coving, doors, skirting boards and even floor boards which have sadly long since gone so, with in mind to restore it back to its former glory. I have been visiting many reclaim yards and similar ‘vintage’ building materials storage companies.

One thing missing which really took away the character of the high ceilings were ceiling roses, only one original remained where as the rest were removed and replaced with industrial style lighting. The challenge was to either find vintage plaster ceiling roses via online platforms such as eBay and Facebook or to have them moulded to the design I require. The other option was to search through websites to choose a design from many companies selling ceiling roses from heavy plaster options to polystyrene.

Polystyrene Ceiling Roses

I decided to put a call out for samples and I received a few to include ceiling roses made from polystyrene from Fast Decor. The problem with any product that is a cheaper solution is of course the quality, do you get only what you pay for? The importance of a ceiling rose is the visual display it offers so having a cheap solution could effect the overall reason for having it?

Review of the ceiling rose from Fast Decor: “The products arrive safely in well packaged parcels. There is no reason for damage to occur during transit. The products are of course lightweight thus easy to fix with basic coving adhesive. The look of them once coated with minimum of two undercoat and one topcoat is just as good as the plaster alternative. The advantage of polystyrene is the price difference, at least half the cost, and the installation ease. The disadvantage will the the preparation time as they will need a few coats of paint in order to take away the polystyrene surface character.
