Is Your Home Making You Sick? Do These 4 Checks Today

Your home could be making you sick. It’s a crazy thought, right?! Your house, the place where you live, the place you cherish, and the space where you go to genuinely be yourself, could be affecting your health. Having a young family is stressful enough without having to worry about whether or not your house is contributing to their health problems. So, we’ve developed a list of home improvements that will help enhance your health and take this stress off your mind.

Air conditioning filters should be replaced or cleaned on a regular basis.

Having an air conditioner is fantastic. Days when it’s simply too hot to go outside with the kids are no longer hated since you can turn on the air conditioner and be comfortable in minutes. Furthermore, air conditioning devices can aid in the removal of hazardous microorganisms from the air, thereby keeping your family healthy. However, if you don’t replace or clean your air conditioning filters on a regular basis, you risk re-exposing your household to all of those hazardous germs. Your owner’s manual should include instructions on how to clean your AC filters, as well as information on where you can get replacement AC filters.

Treat the mold and damp

While mold and dampness may appear to be relatively harmless in a corner of the room, did you know that it harbors an abundance of bacteria and germs that can get you and your family sick? While mold is often easy to remove from ceilings and walls, it may be worthwhile to investigate the root of the problem to avoid it recurring. Mold and moisture can be avoided by making sure a space is properly heated and has adequate airflow, but it’s a good idea to hire damp specialists to investigate the root of your damp problem.

Filter your drinking water

It’s frightening to imagine that the water that’s been piped into your home may be harmful to your health. Did you know that there are two different types of filters you can buy for your home to help purify the water before it comes out of the tap? They can have a significant impact on not only the water’s purity, but also its taste and translucency! Consider installing a water filter to ensure that the water you’re consuming is as pure as it should be!

Ensure that your carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.

And finally, carbon monoxide is a very deadly gas that, if inhaled over a lengthy period of time, can kill you and your family. It’s made worse by the fact that it’s not visible to the naked eye and can’t be smelled. It’s time to get a carbon monoxide detector if you don’t already have one to protect your family from this risk. They are relatively inexpensive and may one day save your and your family’s lives. It’s also a good idea to have your boiler inspected to make sure it’s not emitting any dangerous gases.
