Top Places People Lose and Forget their Keys
Just the other day my set of keys went walk about. Yes, it wasn’t anything to do with me, the set of keys had a mind of its own and decided to play hide and seek with me, but eventually after a bit of hunting I found them and won that game. Though honestly, how many times has this happened to you where the keys are not in the obvious place and you’ve a brain block on where they could be until eventually you find them and question yourself ‘why on earth did I put them there‘?
From misplacing to losing them, keys are a relatively frequently used item at home and thus are usually in our hands giving us plenty of occasions to put them somewhere which escapes our minds. Most of us will, I am sure, have a special place for keys be it in a draw in the kitchen, the old ashtray in the living room or up on a hook by the coats and jackets, but still they are one of the more common items we misplace.
Most times when we say I have lost my keys, its more so that we have misplaced them and knowingly so in that just tracing back our recent actions we are able to recover them. Sometimes accidents do occur such as keys falling out of our pockets or even worse, them being stolen which can cause us great inconvenience and concern, but most times they will be found exactly where we last put them!
Let us take a look at the first places you should investigate the next time you have lost your keys.
Someone else: It might not be you do not forget! You may have placed them down and in between time someone else has moved them to tidy up behind you. Ask first if anyone has seen your keys! Also, people like to play pranks so make sure no one is tricking you!
Still in the lock: Check the door to see if they are there. We act a lot on automation as human beings and maybe something interrupted your pattern and your normal actions did not take place. Did the post arrive and a signed for letter needed your attention and caused you to leave the keys in the lock outside?
Right in front of you: Do not under estimate the bleeding obvious and sometimes keys are sat right in front of you so ask help to search for them if you’ve someone near you. Tell me you have checked all your pockets!?
Trace back your recent actions / movements: Take a moment to run through what you did prior to last having them in your hand. Did you rush to answer the phone? Did you put the kettle on as soon as you got back? Did you put the trash out? Did you need the loo? Search in and around places like the floor area beneath the key hooks.
So, still no luck with finding your keys? Let us take a look at some likely places that keys are left, placed and forgotten. One thing to think about, when you do find your key(s), is that keeping them singular in that not on at least a ring or with at least some kind of coloured keyring simply makes them harder to find!
