Rightmove to host energy efficiency webinar for agents

Rightmove will host a webinar for agents on Thursday 3rd August at 10:00am focused on the latest insights, data and trends surrounding energy efficiency, Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) and greener homes.

Energy efficiency is increasingly a concern for not only landlords but buyers, sellers and renters too, with one in five tenants and one in five first-time buyers now saying that the energy efficiency of a home will be a major factor when moving.

The webinar, hosted by Rightmove’s Director of Property Science Tim Bannister, and Simon Leadbetter, founder of leading sustainability magazine Blue & Green Tomorrow, will cover what letting agents can do now to help their landlords prepare for potential changes Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), with the government’s plans currently unclear, and how all agents can differentiate their business from the competition in an increasingly green-aware market.

The webinar comes following the publication of Rightmove’s second annual Green Homes Report, which uses millions of data points and a study of over 6,000 people to identify the latest trends and behaviours surrounding greener homes.

One conclusion from the report is that the current incentives for landlords and home-owners to make green home improvements are not significant enough to help people right now.

To sign up to the webinar, agents can visit the Rightmove Hub: https://hub.rightmove.co.uk/greener-homes-live-qa/

Rightmove’s Director of Property Science Tim Bannister says: “We’re hearing from agents that landlords need more clarity and certainty on upcoming changes to Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards in order to plan ahead, and agents themselves want this clarity so they can offer their landlords the best advice. From our latest deep-dive into the many issues surrounding energy efficiency, the indications are that green concerns are rising up the priority list for consumers too, and demand for more energy efficient homes will only increase in the years ahead. We want to help agents by sharing the latest data on this important topic and ways they can help their landlords right now.”
