How To Take Great Property Photos
If you’re an estate agent, you’ll know just how important it is to take great property photos. After all, this is why gives potential buyers their first impression of any home, and if the photos don’t look good, they probably won’t go on to read the description, and they certainly won’t book a viewing.

Invest In The Right Equipment
If you want quality photos, you’ll need quality equipment to take them with, which is why investing in a good camera is crucial. It’s true you can take photos with your phone, but if it looks like that’s what you’ve done, buyers aren’t going to be impressed with your estate agency or the property.
A dedicated DSLR or mirrorless camera can give you a truly great image, and they’re intuitive to use these days too, so you don’t have to be a master photographer to get a good shot (although to get a great shot, you’ll need some extra skills, which we’ll discuss below). You should also buy a sturdy, reliable tripod, a wide-angle lens, and look for photo editing with transparent pricing so you can make all your photos look even better once you’ve taken them.
Understand Composition
You can just point your camera at something and take a photo, and you might be lucky – the end result might be okay. However, if you take the time to understand composition more and know what makes a great picture, you can put those ideas into practice and ensure that shot after shot looks good.
One thing to bear in mind is the rule of thirds, which means dividing your frame into three(both horizontally and vertically) and making sure there’s something interesting at every point where these sections meet. You can also frame the shot using doorways and windows, or use leading lines (which could include hallways and staircases) to guide the viewer to look where you want them to. These tricks, and others, will boost the look of any image immediately.
Think About The Time Of Day
If there’s one thing you definitely need to get right when you’re taking photos of property (or anything else, come to that), it’s the lighting, and that’s why choosing the right time of day to take your photos is crucial – using natural light where you can makes everything look much better.
Early morning and late afternoon will give you gorgeous soft lighting that can make a home look cosy and welcoming, so these are excellent times to take your photos. Try to avoid taking property photos on overcast days if you can, as everything will look dark, and stay away from taking photos in the midday sun, as there will be some problematic shadows to deal with.
