A Big Wheel due for Newcastle to enhance it’s global reputation
London is famous for it’s recognisable sky line which the London Eye plays a strong part of. A positive addition to London’s touristic attractions that pulls in 3.75 million visitors annually. Newcastle is now looking to investors in order to build it’s very own ‘Newcastle Eye’.
The plans for the wheel is set to be announced at the International Property Show (MIPIM) along with several other development opportunities in Newcastle City centre.
The World Wheel Company are said to be behind proposals to build the 440-foot ‘Whey Aye’ and a 39-foot statue called the Geordie Giant on the old Spillers Wharf site.
Nigel Hartley, chief marketing officer of the World Wheel Company, said: “The development will truly set Newcastle apart as a destination for first class leisure and entertainment. This will complement Newcastle’s global reputation and help deliver one of Europe’s best waterfront experiences. We are very excited to be launching this at Mipim.”
