Do you really ‘Love thy neighbour’?

You either love them or loathe them; they can either be a good friend, look after your pets when you’re away or they can be your worst nightmare. And for many of us a problem with our neighbour can make our lives a misery. But for every bad neighbour you have, you will have a great one and that’s a vital part of a vibrant community.

But what are the 10 most common annoying neighbour traits? We have compiled a list just for you:

The families at war

We all know these ones, the neighbours who think they are on the Jeremy Kyle show most days and are likely to give you a live, up-close show of their life.

Wi-Fi stealers

The neighbours that however many times you change your password, they always find a way in! You end up changing your password to ‘hjk90909jk’ which, of course, you never remember.

The hoverers

The neighbour who is ALWAYS outside their house, coincidentally when you’re trying to sneak into your car and always spring up the awkward “hello, how are you?” conversation. Like you didn’t know I was about to leave Jan!

The bin robbers!

No matter how many stickers you put on your green bin, they find a way to claim it. Not like it has your house number quite clearly on it.

Pesky pets

Oh, what’s that? Dog poo by your gate? Cat poo in your front garden? These are the neighbours that love to leave you a treat.

Parking warriors

Of course, they have six cars for a family of four in a house with only one parking spot. This neighbour loves to park their car wherever they want, even if this means blocking you in.

Bin dumpers

They know bin day isn’t until Tuesday but instead of leaving it in their garage or shed like a normal person, they choose to not-so-discretely leave it right in front of your house. The foxes will have a field day going through their uneaten takeaway and spreading it all over your garden.

Snoopers

We’re not sure whether they think they are part of MI5 but they shoot up like a bullet to investigate out their window and have a gossip about your life.

Garden full of junk

These are the chaps next door who love to wind you up with the eye sore that is their garden. Rusty fridges, old mattress, you name it, they have it on their front garden!

Nuisance noise

This neighbour loves to share the Hollyoaks story line with everyone on the neighbourhood with their overpowering volume. They must think you don’t own a TV of your own.

The litterer

After their night out on the town, they can’t help but splatter their half eaten takeaway all over the pavement. Oh the joys!

We know bad neighbours can be a nuisance, but try not to feel stressed, if problems get worse you can always speak to someone.

Do you have a bad neighbour and you would like to share your story, send them over to us!

And don’t forget – if you’re having a dispute with your neighbour over party wall issues, feel free to contact one of our surveyors today who will be able to give you helpful advice and it won’t have to end in murder! 0800 880 6024
