Homes for one pound
Liverpool City Council will open applications to sell more homes for £1 at the end of this June, this follows the successful pilot scheme where 20 homes in Granby Four Streets and Arnside Road were brought back to life by buyers who had paid just £1 to buy them, they were required to make a commitment to spend a further £30,000 on renovations.
From the end of June 2015, buyers will be able to apply for the homes if they live or work within the Liverpool City Council boundary, are in paid employment and are a first time buyer, they will have to live in the property for a minimum of five years, must refurbish it to a decent standard and comply with the agreed schedule of works to be eligible.
Over 150 properties including two and three-bedroom houses in Garrick Street, Bird Street, Richardson Street and Webster Road will be sold for £1 to buyers who meet certain criteria under the Homes for a Pound Plus initiative.
