Housing white paper to be published tomorrow
The Housing White paper is to be published tomorrow and expectations are that the Government will focus on so called ‘Generation Rent’, those who are unable to get on the housing ladder due to such high property prices.
The Government will be promising to look at new ways of encouraging the building of more affordable rented homes and encouraging landlords to offer longer-term tenancies. The need for longer term tenancies is essential in so many ways, families suffer the most when they have to uproot home, changing schools for example can be a major problem for any children involved.
A mix of new measures from controlling rents which for some takes up a major part of their income, to the building of new homes by councils by relaxing planning rules and the introduction of the new pre-fab home.
Savjd Javid the Communities Secretary says, “We are determined to make housing more affordable and secure for ordinary working families and have a rental market that offers much more choice.”
The Government has pledged to build one million new homes in the UK by the end of the decade, this Tuesday in the Housing White Paper they will be setting out how they expect to acheive it.
