Legal challenge to government over buy-to-let tax
According to a recent article in The Telegraph, Cherie Blair the wife of the former Labour MP and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is mounting a challenge to the government’s proposed buy-to-let tax.
Cherie Blair QC has reportedly launched a legal battle against the Government’s flagship policy to increase taxes on buy-to-let investments, claiming it breaches landlords’ human rights.
The Chancellor, George Osborne first announced the tax change in the Summer Budget, it will prevent small-scale landlords from deducting mortgage interest costs from their rental income before calculating any tax payable.
