Mandatory landlord licensing scheme

David Cameron has highlighted housing as one of key ways in which illegal immigrants can be identified. In his speech on the changes the Government is proposing regarding immigation, he has announced plans that  will have a significant affect on Landlords.

Landlords will be expected to take measures to check out their tenants so as to be sure that they are not illegal immigrants and are infact in the country legally, this follows a pilot scheme that has already been tested and will go nationwide.

The Government  plans to cancel tenancies automatically at the same point when visas expire,  apparently the Government will also change the rules so that landlords will be able to evict illegal immigrants more quickly, also there will be a new mandatory licensing regime for landlords.
