Rents increases ahead of General Election
According to the Association of Residential Letting Agents around 31% of letting agents said the cost of renting a home had increased during the month of february, this has been attributed to higher numbers searching in the sector, with agents having an average of 40 prospective tenants on their books per branch, up from 38 in January.
This all appears to be the result of buyers putting their plans on hold and renting instead until after the election, there are concerns amongst prospective buyers as to what housing policies the next government may introduce.
David Cox, managing director of ARLA has been quoted as saying“The second ARLA Private Rented Sector Report findings reiterate that demand for rented accommodation is still on the increase, and monthly rents are following suit.
