Rural productivity plan
This month the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) announced the launch of its first Rural Productivity Plan, the aim is to harness the enormous economic potential England’s rural areas have to offer, both for the prosperity of those living in rural areas and for the benefit of the UK economy overall.
The plan includes improvemnts that will see rural areas connected to the wider economy by way of, extensive, fast and reliable broadband services, high quality and widely available mobile communications and modern transport communications. On housing there will be changes to make it easier to live and work in rural areas, measures will be included to ammend planning rules to encourage the construction of new starter homes and an increase in devolutionary powers for local authorities.
