UK annual house price growth ends 2016 same as for 2015 at 4.5%
The Nationwide today released their House Price Index report for December headlined ‘Annual price growth stable as 2016 draws to a close’
UK annual house price growth ended 2016 at 4.5%, the same as 2015, up slightly from 4.4% in November. Price growth in London ended the year below UK average for first time in 8 years.
Commenting on the figures, Robert Gardner, Nationwide’s Chief Economist, said: “The story of UK house price growth in 2016 was one of relative stability. Annual house price growth ended 2016 at 4.5%, the same as the rate recorded in 2015. “There were signs that London’s significant period of outperformance may be drawing to a close”. more…
