Victorstone are Braving the Shave: Please help by donating to this great cause

To everyone associated with Technicweb and anyone who has ever been affected by Cancer please take 5 minutes to read about this great cause.

One of our clients Fokrul Islam one of the directors of Victorstone, part of the Cartus Relocation Agent Network is taking on Brave the Shave to raise money for Macmillan Cancer research. As we know many people who go through Cancer not only have their lives changed but also their appearance can be greatly affected, most commonly hair loss. The Brave the Shave campaign aims to bring men, women and children who have cancer together by asking family, friends and strangers to shave their heads! Fokrul’s target it £2500 and he will be shaving on the 25th of August, which is ambitious however if everyone donates just a small amount he will reach his goal!

Cancer has such a stigma attached to it and it is a word that so many people fear, especially when you read statement like the one below:

“It is claimed 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop cancer in their lifetime. However after research by Queen Mary University of London, new studies that involved the use of a more accurate calculation technique, which compared cancer rates of people born in the 1930s with those born in the 1960s. From this, we can now forecast that a child born today has a 1 in 2 chance of developing cancer at some point in their lives”

However, it is not all doom and gloom, by donating to Macmillan and campaigns like Brave the shave you can really help change people’s lives. Below is a quick simple breakdown of how your money can help:

£10 spent on the Macmillan Support Line could lead to them helping someone claim £409 in benefits
£185 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that helps a person living with cancer heat their home
£360 could help run a large Macmillan information and support centre for a day
£1,020 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people living with Cancer and their families

Finally here is a message from Fokrul about why he chose to take on this challenge:

“Being a father myself made me realise cancer is much closer to home and can affect any one of us at any given time. I have been involved in fundraisers for years and namely for humanitarian causes. Having seen various television campaigns for ‘Brave the Shave’ I was inspired! thought it would be the perfect opportunity to raise funds. I will be streaming the event live through periscope and post pictures thereafter. Further details to follow I would like to thank everyone for their support so far, but I do have an ambitious but with your support, an attainable target of £2,500! Thank you again and hope to you on the 25th of August!”
