What next for abandoned Great Yarmouth homes?
A selection of abandoned homes in Great Yarmouth could be brought back to life / usage with a £165,000 spend by the borough council.
Sheltered development properties located on West Road and Harbord Crescent are in need of significant repair in order to get them in order to house new tenants. The concern is that following estimates for work on these property back in 2018 it seems that costs have risen by 54% (West Road).
The thought was to sell the property though due to housing stock levels, waiting lists and the fact of a slight downturn in the property market and that to replace the said property would work out uneconomical, funds are to be put aside to bring them back up to habitable state.
“The West Road semi-detached house, which forms part of a sheltered development, has been empty since March 2008 and suffers from significant structural issues.” Full story can be read on the Great Yarmouth Mercury website. 24.
