What Makes the Ideal Estate Agents Sales Negotiator?

Tips when buying at property auctions

Some people have the knack for it, others grow into the role, but what abilities are required to flourish as a sales negotiator in estate agency? Having a natural ability to be able to effectively communicate and an instinctive flair for selling are undoubtedly attributes that rank highly, but there is a great deal more which can contribute to success.

A consistent commitment that is driven by an enthusiastic attitude towards accumulating new skills and continually educating oneself about the industry is priceless in prospering in estate agency. Of course paramount levels of customer service and the effortless capability of being able to build swift rapport and relationships with clientele are major advantages.

Working within the local area means that it is important that a sales negotiator has a good working knowledge of the city and is able to capably portray their expertise to a client. A negotiator may not have had an initial passion for property in the humble beginnings of a career, but a hunger and excitement about the business is easily conveyed and will inevitably work in your favour.

A client will be able to smell fear in a negotiator, so it is vital that an aura of professional confidence is radiated to put the customer’s hesitations at ease. An effective negotiator will develop the talent to be able to grasp the client’s needs in a reasonably short duration of time, knowing the right questions to ask and allowing the customer to explain their preferences.

Intelligence is an obvious benefit in any career, but the aptitude to be able to use that intelligence efficiently and accurately in estate agency will go a long way in thriving in the industry. Stamina and emotional control is another important trait of negotiations, things will unavoidably go wrong from time to time so the capacity to deal with stress and disappointment when sales have turned sour are good qualities to possess.
