Top 5 deposit-friendly decorating tips for renters

Whilst renting definitely has its fair share of perks, at times it doesn’t feel like home as you can’t have all the personal touches you want to add. The last thing you want is to create lots of holes in your walls and anger your landlord. However, don’t feel at a loss, our decorating tips can give the perfect stylish rental home you always wanted.

Removable wallpaper

No damage, residue or difficult application. Removable wallpaper is the top tool for any renter wanting to make their home more stylish. The world literally is your ouster and you can let you imagination run wild as they come in a selection of colours, patterns and styles. Add a simple pattern to a plain wall, a feature wall or use it to cover an entire wall. A personal favourite of ours is chalkboard wallpaper. It is great for a children’s playroom or bedroom and they can just doodle away!

Washi tape

Washi Tape is a little Japanese invention used for card crafting, gift wrapping, and scrapbooking, but it can also be perfect for home décor. It is a must have for all you creative renters out there. You could add the tape around photos to give a framed look or even make your own bunting. Go wild.

Wall stickers

If you’re not good with a paint brush and aren’t very creative, this is a great option for you. All you have to do is figure out where you want to position the sticker and voila. You could show off your playful side by adding a wall art of mice to the corner of a door – could they be falling off the side? Have some fun with it.

Fabric

Another alternative wall decoration is fabric. Whether you’re feeling creative and are going to do it yourself or you’re going to purchase the pre-glued version – fabric will look great. Not only is it hard wearing but it will create some texture to walls and will draw the eye.

Command hooks

As a renter myself, I find that command hooks are an item that every renter should have. They’re so easy to apply and when you take them down they don’t even leave a mark. This genius idea allows you to put up hooks to hang your towels, coats and bags etc. without getting a dreaded nail hole.
