How to unpack quickly and easily

So, you are finally in your new home after relocation. Or that is what you think. There is still unpacking left to worry about. It is a task that takes a fair amount of time. With so many people struggling with tight schedules, it can be hard to address every aspect. It is wise to consider ways to unpack your items quickly without getting yourself in a mess. Follow these tips and you won’t have to worry about time.

1. Clean

Before you unpack anything at all, give your home a good and thorough clean. That is best done few days before you get there. Otherwise you are going to have to unpack in an unclean environment, and that is not a good thing. You may get your own things dirty too, which is less than desirable. It only takes an hour of dusting, vacuuming and polishing. Then you can start unpacking on removals day.

2. Unpack the essentials box

Start off with unpacking your essentials box – the box that contains all the things you need right away. It should be within easy reach, if you have been careful enough not to lose it among all the other boxes. Unpacking that first will provide you with everything you need.

3. Unpack the kitchen

Next, it is time to unpack the kitchen boxes. You see, sooner or later you will want to stop your work and grab a snack. That is having cutlery, clean dishes and silverware ready is so important. Prepare your cupboards and drawers before you place knives, forks and other cutlery in.

4. Assemble beds and furniture

Did you have to disassemble a lot of furniture items like your bed to transport it on the van? You want to sleep in your bed this night, so it is wise to try and get that assembled before anything else. That way you can get some proper rest in your first night at this home. Apart from your bed, you will do well to install some of the cabinets to store your belongings.

5. Unpack the bathroom

Now it is time to unpack the bathroom boxes. There is nothing better than a nice hot shower or bath after a long day of work in your new home. To make the experience great, you need some bathroom essentials like towels and toiletries.

6. Furniture positioning

Before moving furniture, make a floor plan of where it will stay within your home. This just saves so much time when you arrive so you know exactly which piece of furniture goes where. It is a sure way to handle such a stressful task with less worries.

7. Garage

You can leave the garage stuff last because you aren’t going to need those items immediately. Have a good night’s sleep and leave unpacking your garage and patio goods for tomorrow. You will have more energy then.

Unpacking does not have to be stressful but you have to plan out the whole process before you start. If you don’t, you’ll end up with a pile of boxes and loads of clutter all around your home. Take one room at a time and follow the outlined tips. That way you will tackle the job. Try it out and see how effective it is.
