How to stage a kitchen to sell.

In the world of real estate, it’s commonly believed that kitchens sell homes. Here are 5 tips from the Home Whisperers on how to add the WOW factor when presenting a kitchen.

Kitchen staged to sell, plinth and under-cabinet lights on, shiny appliances, clean worktops1) Clear away EVERYTHING from worktops. You can leave a nice shiny kettle or some fruit in a bowl as a feature but that’s about it.

2) Thoroughly clean all the units, the sink, the hob and the oven. There are two secret ingredients to making your kitchen sparkle. Number 1: biological washing powder. It works magic when it comes to cleaning brown heat marks from the hob. Use a little bit of warm water, let it soak and then scrub away. Secret ingredient number 2 is WD-40. It makes everything shiny, especially if your worktop, tiles or chrome appliances look a bit matt and dull. Before a viewing, spray a little bit on your worktops, wipe with a soft cloth and watch them shine better than new.

3) Turn all the lights on: under-cabinet lights and plinth lights are relatively inexpensive and extremely effective way of adding the WOW factor to your kitchen.

4) Put a vase with fresh flowers on the dining table. It will add an air of elegance to your kitchen.

5) If you have old dark-wood cupboard doors, a lick of paint (preferably white, cream or duck-egg), can bring a dated kitchen to modern standards.
