UK Homes Status – You can now live in an old Shipping Container!

We all know that house price rises along with fairly uncontrolled immigration numbers have caused an issue for affordable property here in the UK and many people wishing to purchase their very own home have been left frustrated. So what solution lies ahead – Maybe it is a real negative price pounding on the property market thanks to Brexit and the increasing turmoil caused by its prolonging by the current government, but fear not a much more easier solution is on the horizon…

Many people will have watched horror documentaries from countries like China where people are living in the likes of cages in order to survive, but England is not too far behind as you can now look forward to living in converted shipping containers.

Don’t take me wrong, I think the idea itself is a positive one and especially for improving the lives of people living in poverty, but to suggest them as a way of living here at home really takes me back and questions ‘when did it all go so wrong‘? Eco friendly, re-cycling, economical is all a thumbs up from the company behind the idea – HighCube Homes.

You can live inside a converted shipping container for less than £50kDoes this really float your boat?

A quirky first house or a last resort? One the market at just £95,000 (just!) that will give you three bedrooms and open plan living area including kitchen. Maybe a little more palatable if these were holiday home solutions, but I can not image Thomas Cook highlighting these during there next TV advert?

Yes, of course we do see such different places to stay during our holidays, I myself have stayed in converted massive wine barrels and of course many readers will have holidayed in a tent or caravan… Whereas I enjoy the TV series Storage Hunters, based on bidding on unwanted containers, my imagination did not stretch as far as living in them.

Can you imagine the uproar from certain folk here in the UK if prisoners where offered such living quarters when doing their time? They would be campaigning outside Downing Street…
