Flat Pack Homes way forward for Welsh housing association?
Innovative, fast, cheaper and more could be thought of when flat pack is mentioned for homes – The new way forward is being built by The flat-pack communities being built by a Welsh housing association, Grŵp Cynefin, in a community of modular homes near Corwen in Denbighshire.
Said to be the future of house building (maybe this will be a concern to many) these houses are being built offsite in two sections then transported to the building site and then fitted out with modern interiors and connected to services etc.
Do they look good and do they blend in? This would need to be over to the local community they are installed within to give feedback along with the feedback from those moving in to them.
Dylan Roberts, regeneration services director at Grŵp Cynefin, was quoted as saying: “The quality is very, very good, it’s worth having a look inside, you’ll see the quality of the finishes.
They (the houses) are very environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient, partly because they’ve been made in a factory so everything fits together well so you save a lot of energy; you don’t lose a lot of heat through gaps in construction.
And really importantly, there is far less disruption to the houses around. This is quite a tight location, so having it prefabricated makes it a lot easier to fit on site.”
