£100 million spend on 1’000s of affordable homes for Glasgow
Good news re housing for Scotland and for Glasgow with a reported budget of over £100 million will be going towards delivering 3,500 homes which includes large scale regeneration projects on sites which have been left derelict for more than a decade. Sites include those within Larkfield, Ardencraig, Hamiltonhill and Dalmarnock. The bulk of property will be for social renting via housing associations though some will be allocated to house local key workers.
Of the largest projects to get underway include Home Housing that are creating 150 properties for rent at the old meat market site in the east end and the 128 homes at Hawick Street, in Yoker, by Sanctuary Housing.
Councillor Kenny McLean, City Convener for Neighbourhoods, Housing and Public Realm at Glasgow City Council, was reported as saying: “The record levels of funding that we are allocating allows thousands of new affordable homes to be built all over Glasgow.
This is fantastic for the city as key to everyone’s quality of life and health is a good standard of housing.”
