Labour MP court appearance on £63,000 Social Housing Fraud

Reported by many national press and Youtube news channels, it appears the continued negativity for Labour party continues with a member appearing in court following being ‘accused of failing to tell Tower Hamlets that she was ‘no longer living in overcrowded conditions‘.

Reported on varied user generated news channels on Youtube, including one of Alex Belfield (formerly at BBC Radio 2) who reported this news on his channel that the Labour MP for Poplar and Limehouse, Apsana Begum, is suggested to be “defrauding her local council“.

She has pleaded not guilty. She has also been suggested to have members of her own party harassing her so her address has not been called out in court. At Westminster Magistrates’ Court she was reported to have pleaded not guilty to three counts of fraud by dishonesty.

We must also remember that we pride ourselves on being innocent until proven guilty in this country.

Funny enough, though some 11 year previously – A BIRMINGHAM MP has found herself at the centre of an expenses storm – after it emerged she made £63,000 profit on a second home bought with taxpayer help. Another Labour MP though I feel this is not just a ‘party related’ issue.

There seems to be an increasing amount of daily news channels on Youtube reporting on what is happening across the country. Mostly it is content not taken up by the major corporations or maybe purposely ignored. With BBC licence payers declining, is this the way forward for local / national news? You can choose from many broadcasters to suit your requirements to include those that are more political, those swinging left or right, or those just delivering the facts. There are some though that do have personal agendas and we need to take care not to read, or should I say watch, too much in to their broadcasts.

Just a quick search on Google for the phrase ‘MP fraud court appearance‘ brings up 7 million results and many MP’s and parties… Oh dear me.
