Why Should You Improve the Plumbing in Your New Home

Moving into a new home can be a very stressful time and it may not feel like the best time to take on extra work in your new place, however, this is often the ideal opportunity to make important improvements.

There is, of course, plenty of time to make surface changes, such as decoration and alterations to furniture, for example, but for more integral modifications, like plumbing, there is no time like the present.

People often hear the word ‘plumbing’ and think of the difficulties and expense that come along with it, however, if there’s one thing that shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s the plumbing in your new house. If there are any issues or improvements that can be made, taking them on early will mean reducing the likelihood of any serious occurrences taking place, such as leaks or even floods that could result in serious damage to your property and belongings.

Upgrade Plumbing Pipes

One major improvement to your plumbing system is to upgrade and install steel gas pipes throughout. The benefits of this are that it is very strong and it can either be installed inside of a wall or, alternatively, on a wall, but without needing additional attachments due to it being stiff and thicker than most.

Assess Your Boiler

Another great way to limit emergencies in the future is to look at the boiler currently installed in your new home. You may find that it will stop you having to spend out at a later date. By upgrading an old boiler straight away, you’ll be safeguarding your central heating system for the future, as well as instantly adding around £8,000 to your property’s value. On top of this, you and your loved ones will benefit immediately from the new upgrade, feeling warm, cosy and secure in your new home.

Install a New Shower or Taps

Changing the whole bathroom suite or your kitchen are some of the biggest jobs you can take on when making changes in the home, however, by just changing key features of these rooms, you can make huge improvements to both your new property, and your daily routines. An example of this is to change the taps to more contemporary, up-to-date models that will instantly add a touch of class to the space, as well as improving the performance you’ll experience on a day-to-day basis.

The bathroom in your new property can be made more attractive and user-friendly quite easily, by replacing just the shower. This is actually a much easier job than you may first think and there are many options to choose from. Why not swap to a recessed ceiling shower head and enjoy features such as a rainfall effect or the power of extra water jets? By making this simple change, not only will you improve your property, it will also benefit your daily life.

Invest in a Water Filter

Something that can have quite an effect on your plumbing system is the type of water in your area. If your new home is in an area with hard water then it may be causing problems with your plumbing system. Mineral deposits, contained within hard water, can be left behind in your pipes, potentially causing corrosion and low water flow issues. By installing a whole home water filter in your new home, you can prevent these issues from happening as the filter will eliminate many of the minerals that usually get left behind, thereby extending the life of the fixtures and plumbing system. All this, with the added benefit of making the drinking water in your home taste better.

There are many small plumbing projects that you can pick up once you’ve moved into your new home that can make your day-to-day life better, whilst reducing the chances of running into big problems with your new home later down the line.
