Kärcher K2 Power Control High-Pressure Washer Review
Having recently purchased a property, that was somewhat neglected over the years, it was finally time to tackle the outside of which a decent part of the back garden area is made up of paving, an 8 x 12 metre, 400 sand stone paving slabs ‘back breaking assignment’ for me to tackle. Now these 35mm x 35mm slabs were bare of any jointing and hadn’t seen a brush up or pressure washer clean in years and were mostly a darker grey shade except for a few circles here and there which had contained weather protection from a flower pot or two.
So, do I go manual (scrubbing and washing each by hand) or do I go down the pressure washer route… ? After having checked the reviews of many options from the leading brand of Kärcher to lesser chosen brands such as Bosch and Stanley I decided the safest route was indeed Kärcher. Now the review of all pressure washers it seems are not the best and certainly deflate your confidence when purchasing, popular complaints being leaks and breakages along with only getting a few uses from them before the dreaded silence when switching them on. So upon the latest Prime Day sale I got 25% off of Kärcher products so this was an easier choice though the decision was to be the power of the unit required – Again reviews take you through this decision process and it was either the K2 or K3 which seemed most applicable to my needs. I decided upon the K2 so here is my review of the product:
The K2 was said to handle both smaller assignments such as pressure washing of garden pots and furniture to giving the family car a good old clean, outside paving was mentioned a few times though not so many had left reviews on how the results were.
How good is the Kärcher K2 for cleaning garden paving? To be honest when you receive the K2 unit it comes in a small box and you somewhat doubt already it’s ability to be powerful enough, but like Maradona packing in the goals for Argentina, this unit is more than capable.
Easy to set up, though instructions somewhat brief, and within 5 minutes you can be connecting the unit up to your hose pipe and electric plug socket. Do follow the initial steps for set-up, as I did, then you are ready to get a first hand experience of the action which will pleasantly surprise you.
The darkened yellow sandstone tiles were brought back to life quickly (without the need of any soap / detergent connected) and quickly I was able to go from tile to tile / slab to slab cleaning away years of dirt. Once you master the holding of and direction (ie pushing the excess dirty water in one desired direction) then you can smoothly progress through the assignment in front of you. I suggest, as most patio areas will do, follow any downward slope or towards a direction where the excess water / dirt can escape or easily be collected.
Excellent size, easy to store.
Are there any faults with the Kärcher K2? Not really, though I have noticed the product randomly juddering in pulling the water through, spurts of action that isn’t at full power – Here you have to either wait around 30 secs for the fault to remedy or switch off and on. This is a fault that a few others have told me exists and I tested my K2 with the next door neighbours outside tap and hose and it repeated the fault so wasn’t an issue my end.
The main unit is within lightly flimsy casing and you are a little afraid of how robust it will be upon tipping over or frequent use – time will tell!
