Visit & Interview: Rush Somauroo of Propertyflock.

“Continuing on from our industry interviews, we are now visiting industry service providers to find out more about what they do and how they work. Our first visit and interview is with Rush Somauroo from Propertyflock.” Christopher Walkey.

There is a lot of exciting innovation happening in the industry and I think this year is going to be a big one for new products and suppliers entering the market. But there is one person in particular who has caught my attention. Through meeting him a number of times and interrogating him on his product, I can say with confidence that this guy is very knowledgeable on technology in this industry. Rush Somauroo is the founder and CEO of the social media-focused tech company, Propertyflock, and frankly I believe we need more people like him.

Propertyflock develops tools that help estate agents get the most out of social media, and from speaking with Rush and seeing his tools in action, I can tell you their technology is powerful. In fact, if you are an agent on Twitter, I can almost guarantee you will have seen a conversation involving Rush, or come across a fellow agent’s branded links powered by Propertyflock. Amazingly, the company has built its client base of thousands on virtually no marketing. Instead, Rush has created an army of agents through personal relationships, and they are now true advocates of his technology.

A few months ago I visited Rush at his offices in London to meet the team and find out more. Rush updated me with: “We’ve got some cool stuff coming for estate agents”. Despite him not divulging details, I have no doubt that this claim is true based on what I’ve already seen and the conversations I’ve had with the London-born and bred founder. In fact, I’ve left every meeting feeling incredibly excited about the social technology that now exists as this is a sector of the industry that I have always believed in and confident that it has a big role to play in future months. With so much innovation happening on the FSBO side of the industry, it is truly refreshing to see someone flying the flag of estate agency. Their model is simple, drive agent’s local followers to their agency website, and for those not already on social media, Propertyflock shows agents how to leverage trending articles to gain more followers and build authority online.

There’s a danger of some agents perceiving portals to be the be-all and end-all of online marketing, but this is not always the case. In reality, the industry has considerable opportunity to harness technology that will do great things for business, namely through social media. Propertyflock wants to make this technology accessible to the masses, and guide agents on how to make it work for them. Rush seems to know all there is to know about what social technology is capable of and, when handled correctly, what it can do for estate agents. It is no secret that social is incredibly powerful in this industry and the agencies investing in it will ultimately be the ones who succeed. Rush is also a great supporter of the power behind Estate Agent Networking and how it is building a unique social networking platform for the industry, uniquely bringing together closer service providers with agents across the UK.

People consistently approach me for social media advice, and ourselves at Marketme & Estate Agent Networking do everything from guidance to complete social media management extremely well. Over time I have become somewhat of a spokesperson for social media in the industry, and now Rush has opened my eyes to the wealth of valuable data that is available through this channel. To become truly effective online in this day and age, decisions must be data-driven, and there are very few people in this industry that understand data the way Rush and his team do.

If you doubt my claims, talk to the man himself – I’d be happy to put you in touch. I strongly believe that people doing good in the industry should be highlighted and supported and I hope that our readers found this interview useful, if you would like us to interview yourself and your concept then simply send us an email or get in touch via social media.
