CTA’s – What are they and why are they so important for your website?

So you have designed a beautiful site and it has just gone live but it isn’t getting you any business or anywhere near as much as you thought. If you are getting the right amount of traffic to your site but not converting those people that come onto your site then it is probably because you have a lack of effect CTA’s (calls to action). You will see these on nearly every website you have ever been on. Whether it is a live chat button, a contact us button or a buy now button, they are all CTA’s and it makes you perform an action which will maximise the chance of you converting that visitor into a sale.

On an estate agent’s website, the key CTA’s that you must include are ‘request a valuation’ ‘contact us’ and ‘register for email alerts’. Any CTA that allows you to get your visitors contact details should be your main focus as they not only allow you to make immediate contact but you can also add them to your mailing list and any marketing send outs that you might have planned. A growing number of people use their mobile devices to access websites now, making sure you have easy to access CTA’s is key to the performance of your website. If someone is on your website and looking to get a valuation in your area, you want to make sure that they have options and don’t just have to ring you. People lead busy lives but are able to check their phones in their spare time, they may not want to phone, but a speculative email might suit them, CTA’s accommodate for this, make sure you can accommodate every scenario or you may lose out.

Just having CTA’s on your homepage is OK but the art to creating a website that converts users into leads is making sure they are placed correctly. If you are on an estate agents website, browsing properties and you see one you like, you may want to immediately get in contact, therefore it makes sense that a contact us button should be located 1 click away from the full details of any property. As your users browse your website, your CTA’s should appear in front of them at the right time as they need them, rather than just in their face like spam. No one will just get in touch with you because you spam your whole website with ‘Request a valuation’ buttons, they will get in touch when they feel like it, just make sure your CTA buttons are there when they do or they may just forget. Your CTA’s have to be precisely placed and thought through. At Technicweb we have a whole team that work on designing our websites and every aspect of user experience is considered to make sure you can maximise the business from your site.
