Plans for ‘Skinny Shard” for West London
Changes to West Londons Skyline with what has already attracted the name of ‘Skinny Shard” may well happen if architect Renzo Piano and developers Sellar property Group get their way, Irvine Sellar’s property company has unveiled plans to transform Paddington in West London with a mixed used scheme, the focal point will be a slender a 65-storey ‘skinny Shard’ of apartments, offices, restaurants and a roof garden.
A planning application is expected to be submitted to Westminster Council next month and if all goes to plan construction could start late next year.
The chairman of Sellar Property Group, who developed western Europe’s tallest building reportedly said “We believe this exciting proposal will tap into the potential of Paddington and will prove to be a major catalyst for the continuing enhancement of the area, especially Praed Street – in much the same way that The Shard did for London Bridge.
“It is a fantastic location but it is stuck in a Fifties time-warp. We intend to create a place for people to go, where they will want to live, work, eat and shop.”
