An Englishman’s home is his castle
I am not sure who gave us the the phrase ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’ but it appears these days less and less in England or for that matter in the UK actually own their own home, official figures show that the UK now has the fourth lowest home ownership rate in the European Union.
The last UK census showed the first fall in home ownership in a century with a particularly stark decline among younger people, we have come to acknowledge that the younger generation are finding it more and more difficult to get on the property ladder, in fact a whole new phenomina has been created ‘generation rent’.
Separate research suggests that the downward trend in home ownership could finally be coming to an end, according to Zoopla buying a property is now more affordable than renting in six out of 10 British Cities.
