Approximately 4 million blog posts are published daily – How will yours stand out?

The internet is awash of past and ever increasing new content from websites to tweets, blog posts to videos which makes it more important than ever that you attempt to make what you share stand out from the crowd. Once your content is published it simply joins the long list of choice people have to engage with information online, no matter how target you make what you share, you will find that many other people before you will have shared something very similar.

Google will be overloaded with content and near enough any kind of search, no matter how weird, will give you a long list of results so that today we can not overly rely on simply a very keyword rich title or guerrilla marketing or the chance that our video on Youtube will go viral – All of these options are being explored daily by many thousands of others across the planet.

If you have a standard website, a small social media account or simply have very little time to keep adding content online in order for you / your business to be found then you should start looking at other methods in order to be seen online such as paid for content marketing and distribution.

Each industry sector usually has a number of recognised information / news channels that have very large and target audiences following them and using their websites as a news and information source. Within the UK property sector we have managed to create such a recognised channel with Estate Agent Networking that also has domain authority which is what you need to be found with content you share online.

So, what is Domain Authority?

Also known in the industry as DA, it is a type of scoring system that will indicate how strong a website is and the position it is likely to achieve on search engine result pages. The scoring system ranges from 1 up to 100 and the higher the score then the better the website performs and will rank online for content it hosts. There are many factors that will effect a website’s domain authority, though for us to understand better it is mostly down to the quality of content and frequency of it that the website in question holds and how high it is respected by Google for being a website it should show within its search results.

So to really get your content seen you should be engaging with and certainly sharing your content with these kind of industry respected websites not only for the here and now, ie your content being seen by a large target audience when it is shared, but also for long term purposes such as SEO (search engine optimisation) so that your content continues to be seen in months / years to come in search results.

These kind of industry respected channels will also usually have large subscription databases and sizeable audiences following them across social media so you will benefit not only from one channel of communication, but several.

What next for you?

The best process for anyone looking at content marketing and getting the best results will be to:

  • Create quality content – sometimes you may wish to outsource this work to marketing agencies who will know what your content needs to contain in order to be found.
  • Make sure your content is added to industry websites with domain authority and this will likely cost you anything from £50 a post to over £1,000.
  • Make sure you are present online to capture the traffic, ie if your content contains links then make sure it points to your website that you actively manage, if social media updates contain your content then make sure if your social media accounts are mentioned that you are checking any new notifications as they happen.
  • Be prepared to be consistent and current. Share regular content and be alert to current trends and news so that you theme what you share to what your target audience is likely to be interested in. Remember that approximately half of your new business prospects will view around 5 of your articles before seeing you as a trusted source and one to initiate a conversation with.
