London Mayor’s scheme for private landlords
A scheme which was originally launched by Boris Johnson in late May of last year has not progressed as expected, in fact Labour’s London Assembly Housing Spokesperson is quoted as saying it will take 103 years to complete.
The London Mayor’s plan was to get 100,000 private landlords to sign up to a minimum standards register, this target was expected at the time to be reached by May 2016, unfortunately since a short while after the launch it has been reported that only 627 Landlords have been added.
The mayor’s scheme sets minimum standards for landlords and with more than two million Londoners now living in private rented housing it would appear that the scheme is failing to live up to predictions, a good idea nevertheless.
