Newham council considers £3 billion plan to create new ‘town’
A massive pot of £3 billion is being considered by Newham council for the creation of a new town within Docklands that could see 5,000 homes, workspace, shops, restaurants / bars, a primary school and a brand new DLR station.
The location is the former Carlsberg brewery building in Silvertown and has Foster & Partners (architects) looking to oversee the project.
Thameside West, as it will be known as, is expected to get the green light for a go ahead by the summer this year that will see the 40 acre site converted in to a vibrant new community on the Thames within the Silvertown area which is one of east London’s regeneration hot spots.
