More Than A Logo

Being an NAEA member gives you the credibility of being part of a respected industry organisation and the opportunity to promote your membership to the public by displaying the NAEA logo; a symbol of integrity and professionalism. However, the benefits of membership do not stop there, as Rachel Escott explains.

The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) is the UK’s leading professional body for estate agents and has more than 50 years of experience. The NAEA logo is synonymous with credibility and professionalism; therefore it is unsurprising that having use of the logo is a major reason for joining the Association. However, membership brings with it a whole host of other benefits and services which should not be overlooked.

Enhancing your credibility

Displaying the NAEA logo demonstrates to the public that you are qualified (either by formal qualification or by many years of industry experience), that you abide by a Code of Practice and Rules of Conduct, and that you are a professional, trustworthy agent who can give up-to-date advice and guidance. The logo can be used on personal stationery, such as business cards, and Principal, Partner and Director members may also use the logo on promotional materials, advertising and websites.

Furthermore, if you are a Licensed member, you will have access to the Licensed NAEA logo. Displaying this logo will show the public that your firm has Professional Indemnity Insurance and a written complaints procedure in the unlikely event that things go wrong. To read more about Licensed membership, click here.

The tide is changing, and the public are becoming more aware of the risks of using unlicensed estate agents. It is now more important than ever to set yourself apart from the crowd by having a recognised qualification and being a member of a professional association.

More than a logo

So you’ve joined NAEA and have displayed the logo for the public to see, but what’s next? As a member of NAEA you have direct access to a plethora of benefits and services – a full list can be found here – however below is a summary of some of the key benefits which are designed to help both you and your business:

  • Industry information – One of the key benefits of being an NAEA member is access to vital industry information. You will receive our Property Professional magazine six times a year and a bi-weekly e-newsletter- both with the latest updates within the property market and developments that affect your business.
  • Networking opportunities – A key part of any business is the ability to network effectively.  As a member you will be invited to free regional meetings and will receive a member discount on our regional conferences, giving you the opportunity to meet like-minded property professionals whilst receiving topical industry updates.
  • Government recognition  NAEA is recognised as a leading authority in residential estate agency and is regularly consulted by Westminster, the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly.
  • Designatory letters – Whether you are a business owner or an employee, use of the designatory letters ANAEA, MNAEA or FNAEA after your name tells clients and colleagues that you are an experienced professional and belong to a professional body.
  • Legal helpline – Our members have access to our free legal email support service, providing advice on matters relating to general business, tax, conveyancing and employment law.
  • Discounts  NAEA membership entitles you to a number of exclusive discounts, including on events, courses, qualification study materials, advertising, and deals with myLogbuy and the Merlin group. In addition, members can benefit from our discounts on insurance, including with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), and on Professional Indemnity Insurance (mandatory for PPD members).
  • Brand awareness – Recent research confirms that the NAEA brand has a national level of brand awareness as a result of marketing activity including TV campaigns, PR, and agent window displays. These will be further promoted in the near future and provide an effective means of raising consumer awareness for NAEA and a proven way of directing the public to our agents’ doors.

To conclude then – although a key part of NAEA membership is showing public that you are a professional and trustworthy agent by displaying the NAEA logo, there are so many more benefits and services to take advantage of (and we don’t just mean the half-price tickets to Thorpe Park!)
