Government to give councils and housing associations the help they need to replace unsafe Grenfell-style cladding.

Comment from Shelter on the Prime Minister’s announcement that the government will fully fund the removal and replacement of dangerous cladding by councils and housing associations.

Polly Neate, CEO of Shelter, said: “For more than six months Shelter has been calling on the government to step up to the plate, and today the Prime Minister did.

“It’s great to see the government making good on their promise to give councils and housing associations the help they need to replace unsafe Grenfell-style cladding. The cash injection will be a welcome relief for councils who have been making tough decisions on cutting back in other areas to carry out these essential works, and will go a long way to ensuring the people living in these tower blocks are finally safe.”
