Prevent your properties from being at risk!

how to present your property for sale

At VTUK, we want to eliminate the risk of fraud to your properties. There are several steps you should take, when it comes to protecting your property from fraud and we’ve outlined these in further detail below. As an agent, you’re more at risk of fraud if your identities been stolen, you live overseas, your property’s empty, the property isn’t mortgaged or if your property isn’t registered with land registry. To check if you’re property is registered with land registry please click here.

There are two main steps you should take when it comes to protecting your property from fraud.

  1. It’s important to put a restriction on your property being registered as sold. This restriction will mean unless a conveyancer or solicitor certifies your application, your properties registration cannot be changed. In order to do this, if you don’t live at the property, as a property professional, you should fill in a request for restriction by clicking here.
  2. If you are living at the property yourself, you can apply this restriction for a £40 fee by clicking here. As well as this, changes to your property can be tracked, by signing up for free property alerts you’ll be able to see if someone applies to change the register of your property. These changes will not automatically be blocked but will be alert you if these changes begin to happen. These alerts can be applied for up to 10 properties. To sign up for these alerts please click here.
