Easy Ways to Add Style & Appeal to your Property

Whether it’s because we are planning to sell our property or simply want some design ideas to bring life and character back to our home, how our property looks can greatly effect our moods and its appeal.

What simple and relatively economical actions can we take around our homes to improve the visuals – Here are some tips that we can all look to perform:

  • Radiator covers: These can come in all different designs ranging from relatively economical options from around £35 each (depending on size required) to oak veneer radiator options and beyond. Radiator covers are great for hiding not so nice looking radiators and their designs can be very appealing – They also make the most of wasted space above the radiator by using it as a storage shelf. Radiator cabinets also keep young children safe from accidental burns.
  • Update liquid bottles in the kitchen / bathroom / toilets: I love this option as it is so easy and yet ever so effective. We all have for sure those washing up liquid bottles (upside down if you are trying to get the last drops out of them) or hand soaps around our sinks, think about placing them inside attractive and colour themed dispensers such as these from B&M stores. We can extend this out towards other items such as foods, tea & coffee, sweets and more which can be stored in containers instead.
  • Flowers once a week: Once you adopt this habit and especially if included within your weekly shop, you will rarely let it go – Add a bunch of flowers to your weekly shop and display them in your most frequently used, timewise, room so kitchens and living rooms most likely. A nice fresh bunch of colourful flowers in an equally attractive vase gives the room added freshness, aromas and vibrancy. Extend this out also to house plants, having a collection of these can add an eye catching addition for styling rooms.
  • Positive words and icons: Think about extras such as cushions, blankets, rugs and artwork that contain inspirational, positive words. Not only ‘Be Happy‘ or one of the ‘Keep Clam and… ‘ series can be used, but also powerful phrases from icons such as “Every moment is a fresh beginning.” – T.S Eliot. There are many online stores where you can purchase the phrases and comments you like the best and have them made in to useful products around the property.
  • Once a week anti-hoarding: A great habit to put within your weekly chores around your property is to declutter. You’ll be surprised at how many items we tend to leave around the house that should be placed somewhere else, a simple tour around each room will enable you to pack away items or relocate them back to where they should be.
  • Update door furniture and electric switches: Are your light switches looking old and tired, maybe they are not colour coded to your room – How about upgrading to chrome or gold?
  • Hobbies and lifestyle: If you can make some space for, think about incorporating one of your past times / hobbies such as adopting an art room, exercise / yoga room, film studio and more. Not only will you be using that space well for your lifestyle, it will make your property feel more lived in, loved and ‘homely’. It will also help to ignite conversations with visitors / guests.
