Consultation period for Scottish letting agents

Only recently we covered  a new initiative by the Welsh Government that this autumn they will be introducing a new registration and licensing scheme for letting agents and landlords.

Since Monday 24th August the Scottish Government have begun  a consultation period on a statutory code of practice and training requirements for letting agents in Scotland, it will run until the 15th November 2015.

The consultation paper sets out a draft statutory Letting Agent Code of Practice and proposals for a training requirement that those applying to the Letting Agent Register must have met to be admitted. Responses to this consultation will assist them in finalising a draft Code and inform the approach to the introduction of a training requirement.

Further details can be seen on the Scottish Government website: http://www.gov.scot/consultations/current
